You can find Anand Sweets & Super Market at 105, Muhavoor Main Road in the Puthur Villakki Thalavaipram area. We have been here at number 105 for some time now. It’s a combination of a sweet shop and a grocery store, so the air usually smells like sugar and spices. We have a lot of different things packed into this space on Muhavoor Main Road. It gets pretty cramped when we have a lot of shoppers, but that’s just part of life in Puthur Villakki Thalavaipram. I spend a lot of time checking the expiration dates on the snacks and making sure the sweets are displayed clearly in the glass cases. It’s a lot of work to keep up with both sides of the business. The supermarket side has all the heavy bags of lentils and rice, while the sweet side needs more careful handling. I usually stay late into the evening to sweep the floors and get things ready for the next morning. Anand Sweets & Super Market isn't some corporate chain. It’s just our local spot where we work every day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights, but we keep going. The neighbors know us, and we know them.
