Maharani Devi Social & Educational Foundation

You can find us at Patahi East, which is a village in the Patahi block area. We operate out of the residence of Ramchandra Sharma. It is a typical village setting where everyone knows everyone else. The roads are narrow and sometimes they get muddy when it rains, but that’s just how it is in the village. We started this foundation to do something for the people around here. Most of the time, we are just sitting on the porch or in the main room talking about what needs to happen next for our projects. It is not like those big foundations in the cities with glass buildings. We are surrounded by fields and cows and the sound of the local school bell. People stop by all the time just to say hello or to ask a question. We don't have set office hours really, since we live and work in the same community. Ramchandra Sharma's family has been here for a long time, so the location is very easy to find if you just ask a local. We use simple tools and a lot of manual work to keep things going. Life moves a bit slower here, which suits us just fine. We just try to help out where we can without making a big fuss about it. It is honest work in a quiet place and we like it that way.
