Raopura is a very old part of town with narrow streets and lots of history. Our office is right in the thick of it. We have been here for quite a while, and the walls show it. There are stacks of folders and ledgers everywhere you look. We deal with a lot of paperwork and phone calls throughout the day. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is kept. I usually start the day by opening the heavy shutters and letting some air in. The traffic outside in Raopura starts early, and you can hear the rickshaws and bikes all day long. We deal with different suppliers and customers, mostly over the phone or through people dropping by. There is always a pot of tea going in the corner for whoever stops in. It’s a very traditional way of doing business for Vishnuram F & Company. We don't use many fancy gadgets, just the basics to get the job done. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just life here. We’ve known the other shopkeepers on the street for years. We all look out for each other. At the end of the day, we put everything back in its place and head out into the busy street. It’s a steady kind of life, and we are quite used to the rhythm of it by now.
