Vijay Motors

Vijay Motors is what we call this place, and you can find us at A-6 on Padra Road. We are tucked inside the Rajlaxmi Complex, not far from Annaiappa Garden and the Shiv Mahal Palace. It is a busy part of the street, so you usually hear engines and horns all day long. The shop floor is not a fancy place. It has oil spots on the ground and tools scattered around because that is how it looks when you are actually working on engines. Vijay is usually the one with grease on his hands, either under a car or talking to someone about their brakes. The garden nearby is nice for a view, but we are mostly looking at the cars in the lot. We have been in this spot long enough that the local people know to come here when something starts knocking under the hood. It gets pretty hot in the summer, but the overhead fans keep the air moving a little bit. We do not have a big office with air conditioning. There is just a small desk with a lot of receipts and papers on it. We just fix the things that are broken and help people get where they need to go. It is regular work. Sometimes we have to wait on parts, but we try to keep moving. If you see the Palace, you are basically here. We usually have the radio playing some songs to help the time pass.
