Umiya Chemical Industries

Umiya Chemical Industries is found on Ajwa Road within the Shree Narshinhji Ind. Estate. To get to us, you have to turn down Yamuna Mill Road. The estate is a huge place with many different factories, so there is always a lot of smoke and noise in the air. Our unit is dedicated to chemicals, so the smell is quite strong once you get close to our gate. We have a lot of blue drums and metal tanks sitting around the yard. Most of the day is spent mixing things or filling containers for the next shipment. It is a tough environment and we have to wear heavy boots and gloves. The office is just a small corner with a metal desk and a telephone that rings all the time. Outside, the road is often bumpy because of the heavy lorries that pass through Yamuna Mill Road every hour. We usually eat our lunch together in the small shade we can find near the back wall. It is hard work and the days are long, especially when we have a big order to finish. We don't have any fancy signs, just the name on the door and the address. Being in Shree Narshinhji Ind. Estate means we are surrounded by people doing similar industrial work. We just keep our heads down and get the production done as best as we can every day.
