Tulsi

Our shop, Tulsi, is tucked away near the Laheriyapura Gate in Vadodara. Specifically, we are on R T Street in G K Lane. It’s an old part of the city and it gets very crowded during the day. The lanes are narrow and there’s always something going on outside our door. We’ve been here for quite some time now. Being near the gate means there is a lot of history around us, and we like that feeling. We sell various items and the shop is usually packed with stock from floor to ceiling. It can be a bit hard to find things sometimes, but we know where everything is. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have lived in Vadodara most of our lives. We spend our time talking to customers and making sure the shelves are as full as they can be. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit tight when there are more than two or three people inside. We don't use any high-tech systems for our inventory, just notebooks and memory. The street can be quite noisy with all the scooters and people walking by, but we’re used to it. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town. We just want to keep doing what we're doing and serve the folks who come into the lane looking for us. There is always tea brewing and someone to talk to if the shop isn't too busy.
