Surya Laminations

Surya Laminations is tucked away in the Gujarat Spun Pipe Compound out near Samiala. If you’re driving down Padra Road, you have to keep an eye out for the turn-off. It’s an industrial area, so there is plenty of dust and the sound of machinery in the background. We have our small office right next to where the actual work happens. It’s a practical space. We don't have fancy carpets or art on the walls, just some calendars and safety posters. Most of us here have spent years learning the ins and outs of lamination. It’s a process that requires a lot of attention to detail, otherwise things go wrong quickly. We spend our days checking the heat settings and making sure the materials are feeding through correctly. It’s a bit noisy, but you get used to it. The team is mostly local guys who live nearby in the village or just a short bike ride away. We eat lunch together in the shade when it’s hot. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, we just want to make sure the stuff we produce is solid and doesn't peel. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We don't do much in the way of advertising; usually, people find us because they know someone who works here. It’s just a regular factory job with a lot of focus on the machines.
