Steelco Gujarat Ltd. is based at Plot No.- 2 in the G.I.D.C Estate over in Palej. It’s an industrial area, so there are plenty of other factories and manufacturing units nearby. Our site is fairly large and has been here for years. You can usually tell where we are by the stacks of materials in the yard. It’s a busy environment with people moving around in high-vis vests and heavy boots. The office is a separate brick building near the entrance. It’s nothing fancy, just some desks and old chairs. We’ve got a lot of history at this location. Palej is a quiet town, but the G.I.D.C part is always buzzing. We have a gate that opens early in the morning and stays open until late at night. The work we do is mostly about heavy handling. It’s not the kind of place you’d go for a tour, but it gets the job done. We don't have any mission statements on the walls. Just some safety signs and calendars. It gets pretty dusty when the wind blows across the open plots. Most of us have worked here for a long time and know the place inside out. It’s just a solid, working-class setup. We handle the daily grind without much fuss. Plot No. 2 is our home base. We keep a small kitchen area for lunch breaks where everyone gathers to talk about their day. It helps make the hard work a little easier.
