Star Watch Company

You can find us near the Jain Temple on D P Road in Vadodara. We call the shop Star Watch Company. Being near the temple means we get a lot of people passing by on their way to prayers. It’s a nice, calm area most of the time. We have a counter and some shelves with various watches. Some are for men, some for women. We also have clocks on the walls. They all tick at different times, so it’s never truly silent in here. We spend our days looking through those magnifying eyepieces. My hands are usually a bit oily from the clock parts. We handle all sorts of repairs. Sometimes it's a family heirloom that hasn't worked in twenty years. Other times it's a cheap digital watch that needs a new strap. We treat them both the same. The shop on D P Road is our home away from home. We know the other shop owners nearby. We have our tea at the same time every afternoon. It’s a routine. Star Watch Company isn’t a big corporation. It’s just us. We like the work. It’s satisfying to see a watch start moving again after it was dead. People appreciate it when you fix something they thought was broken for good. That’s what keeps us going. Just simple, honest work in our little corner of Vadodara. We have been here a while and hope to stay.
