Our place is located at 47/1/20 in the Nandesari GIDC area. It’s a pretty standard industrial plot, honestly. If you’ve ever been to this part of Gujarat, you know how it looks—lots of pipes, tanks, and trucks carrying drums around. We do chemical work here. It’s mostly routine stuff, making sure the batches come out okay and the temps are right. The air smells a bit like sulfur and chemicals most days, but you get used to it after a week. My desk is right near the window overlooking the loading dock, so I see everyone coming and going. It gets incredibly hot in the summer, and the fans just move the warm air around, but we keep the production going regardless. We aren’t a huge corporation with glass buildings; we’re just a bunch of people in work clothes getting things shipped. Nandesari is a tight community of factories, so we know the neighbors well. If we run out of something, someone usually helps out. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten quickly because there is always a pump that needs checking or a manifest that needs signing. It’s a busy life, and the floors are never as clean as we’d like them to be, but that’s the nature of this kind of industry. We just try to get through the daily list and make sure the trucks leave on time.
