I’m over at Matruashish Apartment in Vadodara. My place is Flat 204. It’s right across from Rosary School in Pratapgunj, so I hear the school bell ringing all through the day. It’s actually a nice way to keep track of time without looking at a clock. Pratapgunj is a decent area, quite green compared to other parts of the city. Being in Vadodara-2 means I’m close to a lot of things. The apartment building itself is older, nothing too flashy. I’ve got my workspace set up near the window. Sometimes I watch the parents dropping off their kids while I’m drinking my morning coffee. It’s just me, Shilpi Aggarwal, working from this little corner. The stairs are a bit steep and the elevator is temperamental, but it’s home. I like the local shops around here. You can get almost anything within a ten-minute walk. The traffic gets a bit heavy when school lets out, but otherwise, it’s mostly quiet. I don’t really have a big staff or a corporate office. It’s just this flat where I spend most of my hours. The walls are painted a simple cream color and I have too many papers on my desk. It’s a bit cluttered, but that’s how I work best. Living and working in the same spot has its ups and downs, but in Pratapgunj, it feels alright. I have lived here for several years now and I know all the local shopkeepers.
