Our place, Sara Fine Chemicals, is over at the R.L. Patel Estate near Chhani Jakat Naka. It’s an industrial area so there are always trucks coming and going, which makes the roads a bit rough. We have a unit here where we handle different types of chemicals. It can get pretty hot inside during the summer months, but we just keep the doors open to catch a breeze. We have several rows of blue drums and sacks stacked up against the walls. It’s not the cleanest work in the world, and your clothes usually end up smelling like the warehouse by the end of the shift. The office part is just a small corner with a wooden desk and a couple of chairs for when people need to sign papers. We don't have a big sign out front, just the address. Most of us live nearby in Baroda, so the commute isn't too bad. We usually bring our own lunch boxes and eat together while sitting on the crates. It is a simple setup and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. We just focus on getting the orders filled and making sure the chemicals are stored where they belong. There is always a lot of heavy lifting involved and the floor is made of hard concrete that's tough on the feet. That’s just life at the estate. We don't worry about being fancy, we just do the work.
