Purna Stone Mines

Our place is out in Savli, near Baroda. If you have ever been out this way in Gujarat, you know it gets incredibly dusty. We are working with the stone mines here, and it is a loud environment with heavy machinery moving around all day. I spend most of my time looking at piles of rocks and making sure the trucks are getting loaded properly. It is not a clean job, that is for sure. My boots are always covered in grit. We deal with various types of stone that come out of the ground. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the monsoon hits and the ground turns to mud. Then everything slows down and we just wait it out. We have got a small office on-site where we keep the logs. It is mostly just me and a few others trying to keep the schedules straight. We do not have any fancy air conditioning in the main shed, so we drink a lot of tea to stay going. The truck drivers are usually in a hurry, so there is a lot of shouting back and forth to get the weights right. We do not have a fancy gate, just a dusty entrance that is easy to miss if you are not looking for the sign. Most people just know we are here if they need stone. It is basic work, nothing too complicated about it. We just show up and do the digging.
