Preparation Of Mix Design

We are based in Vadodara, over at Suboda Nagar Society in the D 268 block. The main thing we do here is mix design, which basically means we figure out the right proportions for concrete and other building materials. It sounds technical, but it’s mostly just a lot of testing and measuring in the lab area we set up. Gujarat has so much construction going on lately that we stay pretty busy. We get samples from different sites and have to see how they hold up under pressure. I started this because I worked in construction for years and saw how often the mix was just wrong. Now, I spend my days with scales and cylinders. The house is part office and part workspace, so it’s a bit cramped with all the bags of sand and gravel laying around. It can get dusty, but that’s just part of the job. My neighbors are used to the noise by now, I think. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the equipment. Every project is different depending on what the engineers want. We just give them the numbers they need to make sure the buildings stay up. It’s steady work and it keeps us out of trouble. There’s not much else to it, really.
