Our office is right across from the Polo Ground in Baroda, in the New Bagikhana area. If you know the city, you know it is a pretty open spot compared to the tighter lanes elsewhere. We spend a lot of our time dealing with things people do not really want to talk about, like bugs and rats. Our team is usually out on their bikes or in the van most of the day. The office itself is where we keep all the sprays, the tanks, and the masks. It has a specific smell to it, mostly from the chemicals we use, but you get used to it after a week or two. We have a couple of desks for the paperwork because there are always forms to fill out and schedules to keep track of. It is not a quiet job. People call us when they are annoyed or worried about something in their kitchen or warehouse. We just listen, grab the gear, and go. My desk is usually covered in notes and old maps of the local neighborhoods. Sometimes we sit around and talk about the weirdest places we have had to crawl into that day. It is practical work. We do not wear suits. We wear what is tough and can get dirty. The Polo Ground is nice to look at when we step out for a break. It is just a regular local business trying to keep the pests down in Baroda.
