About National Engineering Industries Ltd. – Agriculture & Farming in Vadodara
Working out of Plot No. 2-7/3 in the Alindra GIDC Estate means we are surrounded by industry. National Engineering Industries Ltd. is a big name, but on the ground, it’s just a lot of us working with machines all day. The Alindra area is always busy with trucks coming and going, and the air always has that faint smell of metal and coolant. We spend our shifts making sure the production lines don't stop. It’s loud in the plant, so we use a lot of hand signals to talk to each other. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. We’re in overalls, and they usually have a few oil stains by the end of the week. We have to be very precise with what we make because even a tiny mistake can ruin a whole batch of parts. That kind of pressure is just part of the routine. We have a canteen where we all sit together during the breaks and complain about the commute or the cricket scores. It’s a community of workers. We’ve seen the estate change over the years, with new plots being built and others closing down. We just keep focusing on the output and making sure the quality control people are happy. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but there’s a certain rhythm to it that you get used to after a while. We aren't doing anything fancy; we're just making sure the engineering stays solid and the parts get shipped.
