Wood Udyog Corporation is tucked away at Plot No. 749/1 in the Gidc Estate. If you come by, you’ll probably hear us before you see us. The saws have a particular high-pitched sound that stays in your ears even after you go home. Sawdust is just part of the furniture here. It gets on your clothes and in your hair. We spend our days around stacks of timber. Some of it is heavy, some of it is light. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us and the machines. The estate itself is always humming with activity. There’s always a truck backing in or a forklift beep-beeping somewhere nearby. Our plot, 749/1, isn't the biggest, but we use every inch of it. We keep the wood stacked high to save space. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. The roof leaks a tiny bit in the corner when it pours, but we keep the good wood away from that spot. We don't use fancy computers for everything. Most notes are written on scraps of paper or right on the wood itself. It’s a practical way to work. People stop by to check on their orders and we just talk to them plainly. There’s no corporate talk here. Just work boots and the smell of fresh cut pine or teak.
