Vir Electronics is located at Plot No. 11 in the Shreeji Complex, right near the Gidc Ind. Estate. It’s a bit different from the big factories around here because our work is much smaller. We spend a lot of time sitting at benches with magnifying glasses and soldering irons. The Shreeji Complex is always a bit chaotic, with people coming and going and bikes parked all over the place. Our spot is a bit more contained, though it still gets noisy from the street. The lighting in here has to be bright so we can see the tiny circuits and components we’re dealing with. It’s a lot of quiet, focused work compared to the heavy hammering you hear from the plots further down the road. We have rows of plastic bins filled with capacitors and resistors that we’ve sorted over the years. Sometimes the smell of melting solder gets a bit thick, so we keep the door open to get some air from the corridor. It’s not a corporate office with carpets; it’s a functional space with metal stools and laminate tables that have seen a lot of burns. We don’t really do big presentations. People just drop off their boards or pick up their parts and we have a quick chat about what needs doing. It’s a steady way to spend the day in a busy complex.
