Shakti Rubbers is located out at Plot No. K-1-331-a-1-8 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. That address is quite a long one to write down, so we usually just tell people we are in the GIDC section. The air around here often has that heavy smell of industrial work, which is something you just stop noticing after a while. Our shop floor is usually covered with various bits of rubber and materials we are working on. It is not the cleanest place in the world, but it is where the work happens every day. The machinery we use is older, but it still runs fine as long as we keep it oiled. We have a small area in the front that counts as the office, but most of the time we are out back. The GIDC estate is always full of activity, with people moving crates and trucks backing into tight spots. At Shakti Rubbers, we just try to keep up with the daily flow of things. The roof is made of corrugated sheets, so when it rains, it gets incredibly loud inside. You cannot even hear yourself think during a heavy downpour. On sunny days, it gets pretty hot, so we keep the fans going at full speed. It is a straightforward operation. No one here wears a suit; we all just wear work clothes that can get dirty without it being a problem for anyone.
