Polymech Plast Machines Ltd. is over at Gold Coin House, which is Plot No. 775 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. It’s a big, sturdy building that fits the kind of heavy machinery work we do inside. The industrial estate is a maze of factories and warehouses, and we are right in the middle of it. Inside Gold Coin House, there is always the smell of hot plastic and machine oil. We spend most of our time standing on the shop floor, checking the settings on the big injection molding machines. It’s a very hands-on environment where you can't be afraid to get your hands a bit dirty. The office part of the building is where the drawings and plans are kept, but most of the action happens out where the steel is. We don't have any marketing people or slick presentations; we just show the machines to anyone who comes by to visit. The Gidc area is always loud with the sound of compressors and forklifts moving around. We have a small crew of technicians who have been with us for years and know the machines inside and out. It’s a long day, usually starting early and finishing late when there’s a big shipment to get ready. We just keep our heads down and focus on the technical details of the builds.
