Patel Printers Stationers is located at Plot No. 101-2 in the Gidc Industrial Estate. One thing you notice right away is how close we are to the Vadsar Railway Crossing. You can hear the trains going by all day long, and sometimes the whole floor vibrates just a little bit when a heavy freight train passes. It’s a busy part of the estate. Inside, there is always that specific smell of ink and paper that never really goes away, even on the weekends. We’ve got machines that have been with us for a while, and they have their own quirks you have to learn. The light coming through the high windows is usually dusty. We don’t have a fancy reception area; you just walk in and you’re pretty much in the middle of the work. There are stacks of paper everywhere and boxes waiting to be filled. The commute to Vadsar isn't too bad if you beat the morning rush, but the crossing can be a headache if the gates are down. We spend a lot of time just making sure the machines are fed and the cuts are straight. It’s repetitive work, but it keeps us busy. Most of us live nearby, so this estate is like a second home. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just print things and organize stationery until it’s time to lock up.
