Khalsa Machine Tools

Our shop is located at Plot No. 174 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. It’s a noisy place most days because the machines are always humming. We’ve got the old lathes and some newer stuff too. The floor is usually covered in a bit of metal shavings and oil, no matter how much we sweep it up. It’s the kind of place where you have to speak up to be heard over the sound of the tools running. We started Khalsa Machine Tools because we liked working with our hands and fixing things. Most of the guys here wear overalls that are permanently stained with grease and oil. It’s hard work, but it’s honest work. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a small corner with a couple of chairs and a calendar on the wall. The Gidc estate is always full of activity, so there is never a quiet moment from morning until night. We’ve known the neighbors for years and sometimes we trade tools if someone is short on something. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten together in the back. We don't do anything flashy or special. We just take the metal and turn it into what it needs to be for the customer. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought and we stay late under the shop lights. That’s just part of the deal. We like the smell of the cutting oil in the morning.
