Jalaram Wood Industries

You can find us at Plot No. 927 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. The first thing you notice when you get close is the smell of sawdust and cut timber. Jalaram Wood Industries is a noisy place, mostly because the saws are running from morning until the sun goes down. We have piles of wood stacked up high near the entrance, and there is always a truck being loaded or unloaded. It’s a messy business, to be honest. No matter how much we clean, there’s always a thin layer of dust on the benches and the windows. We’ve got a few guys who have been working these saws for years, and they can tell if a piece of wood is good just by the sound it makes when it hits the table. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything. If you come by, you’ll just see us in our work clothes, probably covered in shavings. It’s hard work, and your back usually aches by the end of the shift, but it’s what we know. We make things out of wood, plain and simple. We don't spend time on the computer much because there's always a new load of planks arriving that needs sorting. Gidc is a busy estate, and we’re just one part of it, tucked away at Plot 927 doing our daily grind. It’s not glamorous, but it keeps us busy.
