About Goodluck Oil Paint Co. – Art & Craft in Vadodara
We’ve been at Plot No. 690 in the Gidc Ind. Estate for a while now. It’s just us here making oil paints. The smell of the chemicals is something you get used to after a week or so, but guests always notice it right away. Our floors are usually stained with different colors from spills over the years. We don't bother scrubbing them too hard because it just happens again the next day. Working with Goodluck Oil Paint Co. means seeing the real side of making stuff. It’s not like those clean offices you see in magazines. We spend our days mixing batches and checking the thickness of the paint. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning fixing a belt or a motor, which is frustrating but that’s just life in an industrial area. The sun beats down on the roof and it gets pretty warm inside during the afternoons. We keep a few fans going to move the air around. Most of our neighbors in Gidc are doing similar heavy work, so there is always the sound of trucks and machinery in the background. We just focus on our cans and making sure the lids are on tight. It is simple work, really. We don't have fancy marketing or a big sales team. It's just a few of us here at the plot making sure the paint goes out like it should. We drink a lot of tea to keep going.
