Fine Rubber India is at Plot No. 891-2 in the Gidc Ind. Estate. If you’ve ever been near a rubber factory, you know exactly what it smells like when you get close. It’s a distinct scent that stays on your clothes even after you leave. We spend our days working with molds and presses. It’s hot work because the machines need a lot of heat to get the rubber to take shape. We have a lot of different molds stacked up on the racks, some of them we haven't used in years and others we use every single day. The floor is usually black from the soot and the material, so there’s no point in wearing nice shoes to work here. We have a small group of guys who have been operating these presses for a long time. They know exactly how long to leave a part in the machine just by the sound of the timer. We don't do much in the way of marketing or sales pitches. People usually find us because they need a specific rubber part and heard we could make it. We don't have a polished office; it’s just a corner of the factory with a desk and a filing cabinet that’s seen better days. We just focus on the production and making sure the parts don't have too many rough edges when they come out of the mold.
