About Dwarkesh Rubber Industries – Engineering in Vadodara
Plot No. 37 is where we spend our days. It gets pretty hot inside once the presses start running. Rubber has a very specific smell, especially when it's being heated up in the molds. We have stacks of black sheets piled up near the entrance and sometimes they lean a bit too much. The Gidc Ind. Estate is a busy place, always trucks moving and people shouting over engines. We mostly just keep our heads down and watch the timers. If a mold isn't set right, we have to start over, which is a pain. My shoes always have bits of trimmed rubber stuck to the soles. We keep a fan near the main desk, but it mostly just moves the warm air around. There’s a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the noise. The floor is concrete and it’s seen better days, honestly. We have boxes of different sizes waiting to be packed up. It's not a quiet job. The neighbors are doing metal work so there's always a clanging sound coming through the walls. We check the batches one by one. It takes time. Some days the delivery driver is late and we just sit on the crates waiting. That’s just life at the estate. We don't have a big office, just a desk with a lot of paperwork and a dusty phone that rings too much. We try to keep things moving as fast as we can.
