Central Hardware Industries

When we first moved into Plot No. 241 and 242 in the GIDC Industrial Estate, it felt like too much space. Now, Central Hardware Industries seems to fill every single inch of it. Hardware is heavy and bulky, so having those two plots joined together is the only way we can keep things moving. The GIDC estate is a rough place for shoes, with all the metal scraps and gravel on the roads, so we all wear thick boots. The air always has a bit of a metallic tang to it, and your hands are rarely clean for long. We don't have a fancy office for meetings; we usually just talk over the sound of the equipment or while we’re loading up a truck. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and makes it feel like an oven, so we’ve installed a few extra fans that mostly just move the hot air around. It’s a place where work actually happens, not a place for looking important. We’ve got stacks of materials that have been here for a month and others that leave the same day they arrive. There’s a lot of shouting back and forth to get things done, but it’s never in a mean way. We’re just busy. Plot 241-242 is our home base, and we don't see ourselves moving anytime soon. It’s just us, some hardware, and a lot of daily hard work.
