Our place is over at Plot No 987/8 and the surrounding plots like 987/9a, right across from the Makarpura Bus Depot in the Gidc Industrial Estate. It’s a large spot because we need the room for all the manufacturing gear. Having the bus depot right there makes it easy to explain where we are to delivery drivers, but the noise from the buses adds to the general racket of our own machinery. Automotive Manufacturers Pvt. Ltd. has been part of the Gidc landscape for quite some time now. Inside, it’s a lot of rows of machines and people working on different stages of parts. It’s loud, and there’s always that smell of hot metal and industrial lubricant in the air. We don’t really do anything besides making the things we’re told to make. There’s no big philosophy here, just the daily routine of hitting production targets. The floor is concrete and hard on the feet, so we sit down whenever we get a chance. Lunch breaks are usually spent sitting on crates near the back door where there is a little shade. We don’t have much in the way of a fancy lobby; if you come to see us, you’re probably going to end up in the middle of the shop floor. It’s a busy environment and we just focus on getting the crates packed and ready for the trucks. That's pretty much our whole world here.
