Our factory is located at Plot No. 990-3-4 within the Gidc Industrial Estate. It’s a big area with lots of other sheds around, so the sound of trucks is constant. We work with fiber boards here, which means the air usually has a bit of a woody smell to it. The machines are large and take up most of the space on the floor, leaving just narrow paths to walk around. It gets quite warm inside during the summer months, but we’re used to it. We have a small crew that knows how to handle the loaders and the presses. Stacks of boards are piled high near the entrance, waiting to be moved out to wherever they need to go. It’s a straightforward industrial job. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything like that; you just walk in through the main gate and find us near the back. The lights flicker a bit sometimes, but the work never really stops. We spend a lot of time checking the sizes and making sure the piles stay straight so they don’t fall over. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we all know the routine by heart. It’s loud, it’s a bit messy, and there’s always something to sweep up at the end of the shift. We just show up, do the work, and go home.
