Aashirvad Rubber Tube

If you go to Plot No. 484-b-3 in the GIDC Industrial Estate, you will find Aashirvad Rubber Tube. The first thing people notice is the smell of raw rubber. It is very strong, especially on hot days when the sun beats down on the roof. We spend our time working with long lengths of tubing, cutting them and checking for any holes or weak spots. It is a physical job and we are on our feet most of the day. The machines we use are old, but they are reliable as long as you treat them right. We have a small shed where we keep the finished stock, and it’s usually packed to the ceiling. We don't do a lot of talking while the motors are running because it’s just too loud to hear anything anyway. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or the weather. There is a small tea stall just a short walk away that we visit when things get slow. We don't have any fancy brochures to give out. If you want to know what we do, you just have to look at the stacks of black tubes waiting near the gate. It is a messy business and we often go home with black marks on our clothes. But it’s what we know how to do, and we’ve been doing it at this same plot for quite a long time now.
