Elcen Machines Pvt. Ltd. is located right in the middle of the GIDC Makarpura Industrial Estate at plot 270. If you know this area, you know it is always loud with the constant sound of metal and engines. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside. It is a functional space where we work on different types of machines all day long. The floors have some old oil stains and there is usually a stack of parts waiting to be moved near the side entrance. Most of the staff live nearby in Vadodara and have been working with lathes and heavy tools for many years. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around. We just like making sure the equipment we build actually works the way it is supposed to. Some days are stressful when a deadline is close, but we usually manage to get it done. It gets very hot in the summer under the tin roof, so we drink a lot of tea and keep the fans going. It is not the kind of place where people wear suits or fancy ties. We wear work clothes that can get dirty. Sometimes a customer drops by to check on an order and we just talk shop over the noise of the machines. It is a practical environment. No one here is really interested in fancy speeches. We just care about the metal and making sure the dimensions are right before anything leaves the gate.
