M. S. Plastics

Our unit is 493/5 in the G.I.D.C. area of Makarpura. If you’ve ever been to Makarpura, you know it’s a huge place with thousands of factories. It’s easy to get lost if you don’t know the plot numbers. We do plastic injection molding. It’s a lot of work involving molds that weigh a ton and machines that need constant attention. The floor is usually a bit greasy and there are scraps of plastic everywhere. We have a small office near the front where we keep the records and handle the bills. It’s quite hot here in Gujarat, so the factory can get really stuffy in May and June. We have big exhaust fans, but they only do so much. We aren't a big corporation with thousands of employees. We’re just a local business trying to keep the machines running and the orders moving. Most of our guys live nearby and walk or cycle to work. We don't have any fancy mission or vision statements on the walls, just some safety posters and a clock that’s usually a few minutes fast. We take our work seriously but we’re regular people. When the tea man comes around at four o'clock, everyone takes a break. It’s a simple, hardworking life in the industrial zone. We don't pretend to be anything else, just a small part of the big industrial engine here.
