Being located in the Tapan Estate over at Makarpura is usually a noisy affair. We are at 18/B, not too far from the Uma Bank inside the GIDC area. You can hear the machines running in the background from the other units nearby while we work throughout the day. J D Fasteners is basically a place filled with bins of bolts, nuts, and all kinds of metal pieces that hold things together. The air always has that faint smell of oil and cold steel, which is just part of the job. We spend most of the day sorting through stock or helping people who come in with a specific part they need to match. It’s a practical kind of place. The floor is concrete and has a few stains from years of moving heavy crates around. Our shop is tucked into the estate, so it can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't looking for the landmarks like the bank. We don't spend much time making the place look pretty because that isn't the point of a fastener shop. It’s more about knowing exactly which bin holds the right size screw when someone is in a hurry. The ledger on the counter is usually open, and there's always a half-finished cup of tea sitting somewhere. It’s hard work, but the routine of the industrial estate keeps us moving along even when it gets busy.
