I work in the mechanical department for the Hng Float Glass plant over in Halol GIDC. We are located in Phase-III, which is quite a distance from the main city. It is a large industrial site in the Panchmahal district. My daily routine involves being down on the factory floor making sure the machinery stays in good shape. The address for the whole place is 389351. It is a noisy environment with the constant hum of fans and the sound of glass moving on the conveyors. We don't wear suits or ties here. Most of us are in work shirts with grease on our hands by ten in the morning. The heat from the glass furnaces is pretty intense, so we have large industrial fans everywhere. We have a small office space for the mechanical managers, but it's usually empty because we are out on the floor. There are tools and spare parts scattered across the workbenches. We don't have any mission statements or corporate values posted on the walls. We just have a list of machines that need maintenance and a clock to tell us when it's time for lunch. We eat our meals in the common canteen with everyone else. It is a tough environment but it's honest work. We take pride in the fact that we can fix almost anything that breaks down. It's just what we do.
