Our place is shed 3903 in the GIDC Estate. It’s one of those C-1-B type sheds that you see all over this area. We do chemical engineering work, which involves a lot of mixing tanks and pipes. It’s not the kind of place where you want to wear your nice clothes. There’s always some sort of smell in the air, depending on what we are working on that day. We’ve been in this particular shed for more than a decade now. The roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but we’ve got buckets for that. We work on small-scale chemical processes for different industries. It’s mostly just technical work that requires a lot of patience and watching gauges. We aren't a big firm with hundreds of employees; it’s just a small team of us who know how to handle the chemicals safely. We spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment because that’s the most important part of the job. The GIDC estate is always noisy with trucks moving in and out, but we don't notice it much anymore. We just focus on getting the batches right and making sure the containers are sealed properly before they leave the shed. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy enough throughout the week. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a batch, but we don't mind too much as long as the work is done right and everything is ready for morning.
