Fag Bearings India Ltd. is located over at P.O. Maneja. It’s a big place, and we’ve been here quite a long time. People around here know the spot. Most of us start our shifts pretty early when the sun is barely up. You can hear the machinery hum as soon as you get near the gate. It's a steady sound that stays with you all day. We deal with bearings, mostly. It’s a lot of metal and grease and making sure parts fit where they are supposed to. Some days are smoother than others. When a machine acts up, we all have to pitch in to figure it out. It’s not glamorous, but it keeps the wheels turning, literally. The canteen food is okay, nothing special, but it fills you up. We have a lot of long-timers here who have seen the place change over the decades. The floor can get dusty, and it’s usually loud enough that you have to shout a bit to be heard. We don't spend much time on fancy talk or brochures. We just focus on the crates going out the back. Maneja is a familiar area for us, and the commute isn't too bad for most of the crew. We just show up, do the job, and head home to our families. It’s a living, and we take some pride in staying steady through the years. It's just how we operate.
