Crown Heat Treaters

Crown Heat Treaters is located at 1021 in the G.I.D.C. Estate. It’s a solid, heavy-duty kind of place where we get our hands dirty every day. We deal with metal, specifically heat treating it to make it stronger or whatever the customer needs for their industrial parts. The furnaces are the heart of the shop. They stay hot all day, and you can feel the warmth even before you step inside the big metal doors. It’s a bit of a gritty job, dealing with fire and heavy metal and cooling tanks filled with oil or water. We’ve been in this unit for a long time now. The floor is stained from years of work, and there’s always a faint smell of burnt oil and metal in the air. It’s not a job for everyone, but we like the process of it. You take a piece of raw steel, put it through the heat, and it comes out completely different and much tougher. My brother and I run the day-to-day stuff together. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. Most of our work comes from the other shops in the estate who know what we do and trust us with their gears. They drop off their items, we put them through the cycles, and they pick them up a few days later. It’s a simple routine that we’ve followed for years. We just stay focused on the temperature gauges and the clock.
