We’ve been here at Cinemarc in Salem Tabri for a while now. It’s located in Akota Neta Ji Nagar, which most people around here know pretty well. Every morning starts with checking the projectors and making sure the seats are decent for whoever shows up. It’s not one of those massive malls you see in the city center, but it’s ours. We spend a lot of time swept up in cleaning floors between shows. Sometimes the popcorn machine acts up, but we get it sorted. The neighborhood is mostly quiet during the day, then gets busy when the evening show starts. We see the same faces often, people from the nearby houses just looking for a couple of hours away from their phones. It gets loud when the big movies come out, and the lobby fills with people talking over each other. My hands are usually busy with tickets or fixing some small thing that broke in the bathroom. It’s just how it goes here. There’s a lot of dust that comes in from the street, so we’re always wiping something down. We don’t have fancy uniforms or anything like that. Just a few of us making sure the lights go down on time and the sound isn't too low. It’s a job like any other, keeping the doors open in this part of town and making sure the reels keep turning until the last person heads home for the night.
