Arup Kumar Architects

Arup Kumar Architects is located on Shalimar Lane in Sayajipura, right near Yari Road 11. It’s a busy little corner of the world. The office is situated in a way that you can see the traffic passing by on Yari Road, which can be a bit distracting when you’re trying to focus on a detailed drawing. Inside, the space is filled with the usual architect stuff—large desks, high stools, and plenty of pens. Arup is usually around, probably looking at a site plan or talking to a client about a foundation. We’ve been in Sayajipura for some time, and we’ve seen the area grow quite a bit. The lane itself is narrow, so parking can be a bit of a pain, but we make it work. Our office isn't some high-tech studio; it’s more of a workshop where we grind out the work day after day. We have plenty of old project photos pinned to the walls, mostly just to remind us of what we’ve finished. There’s always a bit of paper on the floor and the smell of ink in the air. We don’t do a lot of marketing or fancy presentations. We just sit down with whoever comes in and talk through their ideas. Sometimes the ideas are good, and sometimes we have to explain why a certain wall can't be knocked down. It’s just honest, everyday architecture work.
