Terra Ware

Our place, Terra Ware, is situated in the Industrial Area near Medical College Road, right in the Avanoor Post area. It is a bit of a drive out of the main town, but being in the industrial zone gives us the space we need for all the kilns and the storage. We deal with clay products, so the air usually smells a bit like damp earth and fire. It is not the cleanest work in the world. There is always a layer of dust on the windows and the floor, no matter how much we sweep. We started this because we liked working with natural materials. Most of the people who work here have been with us for a long time. We aren't a big factory with robots. We do a lot of things by hand, checking the pieces as they come out. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us easily enough because of the medical college landmark nearby. The days are long, especially when we have a big batch of items in the oven. We usually just sit outside for lunch under the trees to get away from the heat of the workspace. It is a practical business. We don't have fancy brochures or a big sales pitch. We just make the ware and hope it lasts a long time for whoever buys it. That is enough for us and we keep going day after day.
