About Ivrcl Infrastructure&Projects Ltd – Metals & Minerals in Uttara Kannada
We’re based up in Madikeri, in the hilly part of Karnataka. It’s a beautiful place, but the weather can be a real challenge for construction work. It rains a lot here, so we spend a fair amount of time checking the forecast and covering up the materials. Our office is a small place, not much to look at from the outside. We’ve got some maps on the walls and a lot of mud on the floor from people coming in from the sites. The air is always fresh, though. We work on the local infrastructure projects in this region. It’s a lot of winding roads and tricky terrain, which makes the job interesting. We don't have a big corporate setup. It’s just a few of us making sure the projects are going the way they should. We have coffee instead of tea most of the time, given where we are. The smell of wet earth is something you just get used to living here. We have a lot of umbrellas standing in the corner, usually dripping. Our office floor is made of old stone, and it stays cold even when it's humid outside. We don't have a lot of fancy technology. We still use a lot of paper notebooks to keep track of things. It feels more reliable when the power flickers during a storm. The people who work here are mostly locals who know every turn in the road. We spend a lot of time talking to the forest department and the local council because of where we are. It’s a lot of coordination to get heavy machinery up these hills. Sometimes we have to stop work because an elephant is blocking the path to the site. It’s not your typical office job. We don't have a polished corporate image because we're too busy dealing with the mud and the slopes. We just do the work that needs doing.
