Darshan Cements

Our shop, Darshan Cements, is right on Bank Road in Honavar, not too far from the T L D Bank. If you're coming down this way, you’ll see the sign. We’ve been at 1813 for quite some time. It's a convenient spot because folks can stop by while they're doing their banking or running other errands in town. Most days start pretty early. We have to clear the front area so the delivery trucks have space to park without blocking the whole road. Dealing with cement means your clothes are always a bit gray, but nobody around here really minds. We mostly deal with local folks from the surrounding villages who are building their own places. It's nice seeing the same faces every few weeks as their projects move along. The rain can be a real problem in Honavar, so we spend a lot of time checking the roof for leaks. Nobody wants wet cement. We have a small corner where we keep the records, though most of it is just kept in our heads. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and other times it's quiet enough to hear the traffic outside. We just stay here and wait for whoever needs a few bags. It’s a straightforward job. Nothing flashy about it, just bags of cement and some honest work. The tea shop next door keeps us going during the long afternoons when the sun is particularly hot.
