Operating a place like Bison River Resorts means being right in the thick of it. We are situated near the Dandeli Wild Life Sanctuary, in a small spot called Ambeli Village within the Haliyal area. Being in Uttara Kannada is quite a change from the city life. Our daily routine involves a lot of outdoor stuff because the river is right there and the forest starts where the fence ends. It’s 581329 for the pincode, but mail takes its own time to get here. We spend our mornings checking the water levels and making sure the equipment for the guests is in good shape. It’s a lot of maintenance work that people don't really see. The village of Ambeli is quiet, and we try to stay on good terms with everyone around. We get our supplies from Haliyal or sometimes even further away, so planning is everything. If we run out of something, it's a long drive. The staff here are mostly local folks who know the woods well. We don't have big corporate goals; we just want the place to stay running and the animals to stay on their side of the bushes. It’s a practical life, honestly. There’s always a leak to plug or a path to clear. We like the sound of the river, even when it’s loud after a big storm. It’s just home for us now. We take it one day at a time and keep working.
