NAVYAFAB PRIVATE LIMITED is tucked away in Kotbangla, specifically in the Saini Bhawan building in Uttarkashi. Being up here in the mountains is beautiful, but it also means we have to work a bit harder with the logistics. The air is fresh and it’s a lot quieter than the plains. We focus on fabrics, as you might guess from our name. Our office in Saini Bhawan is not very big, but it’s enough for what we need. We spend our days coordinating between the weavers and the people who want to buy the finished products. Sometimes the mountain roads get blocked when there’s a landslide or heavy snow, so we have to be patient. It’s just part of living in Uttarkashi. We know almost everyone in the neighborhood. It’s the kind of place where you stop to talk to people on your way to work. We aren't interested in sounding like a big city company. We just do our textile business and try to keep things moving. The work is steady and it keeps the local families involved. We have some storage for the fabric rolls and a desk for the computer. That’s about it. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We like the honesty of working with our hands and dealing with people face to face. It’s better than being stuck in a huge office building in a crowded city somewhere far away from the hills.
