Lokenath Bhandar

Lokenath Bhandar is tucked away in Villpost- Daspara, which is part of the Chopra area in Uttar Dinjapur. It’s a rural spot, so life moves at a different pace than it does in the big towns. Most of our days are spent talking to the locals who come by for what they need. The shop is filled with various items, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for because we pack a lot into a small space. We don’t have fancy displays or bright neon signs. It’s just a regular store where the shelves are full and the floor is swept when we have a spare moment. The weather out here can be tough, especially during the monsoon when the rain hits the roof so hard you can barely hear yourself talk. But we stay open through most of it because people in Daspara rely on us being there. We know most of our customers by their first names and we know what they usually need before they even ask. It’s not about being a big corporation or anything like that. We are just a local business trying to keep things stocked up for the village. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and counting inventory by hand. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next delivery truck to make its way down the road, but that’s just part of the job we do.
