Kaliyaganj College

Kaliyaganj is a small place in Uttar Dinajpur and our college is right in the middle of it. If you walk down the road from the post office, you’ll find us easily. It’s an old building, nothing like those new glass structures you see in the bigger cities. We have a lot of students coming in from the nearby villages. Most of them take the bus or cycle here. The classrooms are basic with wooden benches that have seen better days. During the rainy season, the dampness gets into everything, and we just have to deal with it. Kaliyaganj College is just part of the landscape here in West Bengal. I spend my days mostly dealing with admissions or helping students find their way to the right hall for their exams. There is a lot of chatter in the corridors between classes. The staff room is usually full of tea cups and stacks of papers waiting to be graded. We don't have a big fancy canteen, just a few spots nearby where everyone goes. It feels like a small community because we see the same faces every day. We don't put up big billboards; people just know we are here. It’s a simple life at the college, focused on the books and getting through the semester without too much trouble. We just keep the place running the best we can, year after year, with no big fuss.
