J. G. Enterprise

J. G. Enterprise is our small business located in the village of Bidaypur. We are very close to the ITI College, so we see a lot of students walking past our door every day. This part of Dakshin Dinajpur is mostly quiet except for the college hours. We set up this place to handle different types of local trade and services. The office is just a small room with a couple of chairs and a wooden table. It’s not much to look at, but it’s where we do all our paperwork. Sometimes the internet connection out here is slow, so things take longer than they should. We have lived in this area all our lives, so we know the local rhythms. In the monsoon, the ground around the college gets very soft and muddy, which makes it hard for people to visit. We just wait it out and keep working on whatever needs doing. We don't have a big staff, just two or three of us who grew up together. We don't use any fancy management techniques. We just talk to people and figure things out as they come up. It’s a practical way to run a business. We like being near the college because it makes the area feel more alive. We just hope to keep the doors open and continue doing our bit here in Bidaypur for the long run.
