Baskaran Ice Cream

Baskaran Ice Cream is located at 362 Thenpathy Road in Vettaikaraniruppu. This is a fairly quiet part of the world compared to the big cities, but we stay busy enough. The house number is right on the front so you can't miss it. We have a small counter where we serve everyone who walks in from the road. Most of our neighbors stop by in the late afternoon when the chores are done and they want something to cool off. The shop is a bit small, and we have to be careful about how much we pack into the freezers. We spend a lot of time just making sure the temperature stays right where it should be. It is a family-run kind of thing, so there is usually one of us here from morning until we close up at night. We don't have any big advertisements or flashy lights, just a simple spot where you can get a scoop of something cold. The floor is made of plain tile that we have to mop a few times a day because of the sand that people track in from the street. Vettaikaraniruppu is a place where everyone knows everyone else, so we end up chatting quite a bit with anyone who drops by. It is just a steady, simple way to make a living, and we are happy to be a part of the local community on Thenpathy Road.
