Our factory is way out in Bela Bathri, which is part of the Haroli Tehsil. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. Being at 236, V.P.O. Bela Bathri means most of our workers are locals from the surrounding villages. We make blades, and it’s a sharper business than most people realize. The machines we use are old but they still cut true. There’s a specific rhythm to the factory floor—the grinding, the cooling, the packing. It’s repetitive work, but you have to stay sharp, or you’ll ruin a whole batch. We don’t have a fancy website or a sales department in suits. Most of our orders come from people who heard about us from someone else. It gets cold here in the winters, and we all huddle around for tea during breaks. We aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel; we just want to make blades that don’t dull after two uses. Sometimes the steel prices go up and we have to figure out how to make ends meet, but we’ve stayed afloat this long. The office is just a small room with a desk and some samples of our work on the shelf. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. We take pride in just getting through the day’s production without any major hiccups. That’s enough for us. It’s a good way to earn a living out here in the hills.
