R C Enterprise

Our small office for R C Enterprise is located right on the State Highway in Unjha, and we still use Po Box No. 55 for most of our mail. If you’ve ever been to this part of Gujarat, you know it is the center for the spice trade. The whole town smells like cumin and fennel most days. We are right in the thick of it. The trucks go past our door at all hours of the night, making a lot of noise, but we’ve stopped noticing it. Inside our warehouse, it’s mostly bags of seeds stacked up. We spend a lot of time opening them up and checking the quality by hand. My cousin helps me with the paperwork, although he’s often distracted by his phone. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s just a practical space for moving goods. The summers here are very dry and hot, so we try to get all the heavy loading done before the sun gets too high. We drink a lot of tea with the drivers while they wait for their loads. It’s a lot of physical work, and your hands get rough from handling the sacks. We’ve been here for many years and have seen the highway get bigger and the traffic get worse. We don't do any big promotions. We just buy and sell what’s in season and try to keep our regulars happy. It’s a simple business.
